Terrible Towls, we need to start our own "terrible towels"

Postby PistonsNEaglesFan on Sun Aug 30, 2009 5:49 pm

Is there anything that prevents fans from having something like the steelers "terrible towels"? I know they did away w/ the thundersticks a while back, but these are basically no different than someone taking their shirt off their back and swinging it around. We need to start something similar, call it something different though and a REAL catchy name...I was watching some steelers games last year and man, they looked awesome w/ their yellow towel. We need to add a new tradition.

What about Terrible Blankets? It would "wake up" some of the sleepy sections perhaps?

No? Nothing?

They gave out some white ones at one game, and black ones at last years black-out game. I think it is hard to get many of our fans to participate in anything.

What about "dieing chicken" towel after that sound they use to play on first downs.

Once again, if you're inventing something because "we need it," "it'd be cool," and/or you have to convince people to participate, it is not, by definition, a tradition. In this particular case, we already tried the whole "Rootin' Rag" thing, and it didn't catch on. When the fans are ready to do something like this, they'll let us know by way of doing it.

The same applies to pulling a trophy out of one's butt and declaring a game a rivalry. It just doesn't work that way.

"Eagle Towelons"

"Towelfeathers"

Yeah, they're bad puns. Whatever.

Win 12 games and people will wave whatever you want them to wave.

I think I'll be at the AD's door at 8AM with that suggestion.

Best "tradition" we could re-start would be beating Memphis for a change, along with Houston/Tulsa etc.... While I'm supportive of almost anything legal that improves fan involvment and puts more butts in the seats, I've never seen a towel make a tackle, catch a pass or win a game. Just win baby.
Welcome to bar-b-que season. Venison. It's what's for dinner.
